Alicante has one main railway station, the Estación de Tren de Alicante, which is located in the Salamanca Avenue and which has several excellent rail links to the major cities in Spain, like Barcelona and Madrid. There are also other trains that link Alicante with Castilla, Asturias, Valencia and even Montpellier in France.
Besides trains, Alicante has a short subway section that extends for around 4.2 km and that connects 4 stations in the city center.
The taxi service in Alicante is very efficient and professional. There are both taxis that can be taken on location and services that can be arranged beforehand by visitors that prefer to have more control over their budgets. The service is affordable and the vast majority of drivers is very knowledgably about the city and its attractions, and will gladly tell visitors about the best tourist spots in the city.
The city of Alicante has a small airport located 9km to the south of Alicante. It is always kept in pristine condition and has some of the most friendly and efficient personnel in charge. It also has a very helpful information counter and, in case a passenger’s luggage goes missing, they even have small survival packages that will cover the most basic needs until they find the luggage and send it over to the passenger’s hotel or residence.
